Fasten your seat belts, we’re about to take off…
John Roberts is a senior Delta Airlines pilot with 20+ years experience flying for the company.
Before that, he flew fighter jets in the Gulf War.
He is also a member of nyvs.com and a graduate of the Travel Channel Academy 4-day bootcamp.
A while back he had and idea:
Delta pilots and cabin crew are among the best traveled people in the world.
They go everywhere – or at least everywhere Delta goes… and they know those destinations better than Fromer’s Travel Books – and they’re more up to date.
And… Delta planes are filled with video screens – and captive audience, for hours on end.
Why not put those two things together and have Delta staffers ‘talk’ to their passengers about travel (and Delta) through the medium of video.
Why not have the passengers participate as well?
It’s a great idea.
But how to get it into play?
Delta is a big airline. It handles more than 88 million passengers a year. 4,000 flights every day. 80,000 employees.
How is one pilot going to get the attention of the CEO of such a massive company (#88 on the Fortune 500 list)
Being a grad of TCA and an NYVS member, John made a video and sent it directly to the CEO.
And.. the CEO responded within 24 hours.
Video speaks.
Now, after a number of meetings at Delta HQ in Atlanta, John’s ideas are in play.
Congratulations, John.
We’ll keep you posted on how things progress.
But meanwhile, take a look at the video above.
It’s a lot more compelling than some powerpoint presentation.
