Their reel – so far
As you all know, we have entered into a relationship with New York Magazine, the definitive pubication for New Yorkers.
Now the magazine is putting a toe in the water in the world of online video.
While they readily admit they are open to lots of new ideas, they are very much seeking videos about New York City.
If you read the magazine, you can see what kinds of stuff the like – interesting, a bit off beat, creative, intelligent.
We’re running our NYÂ Magazine Academies to try and create an army of content providers for the magazine’s website – but we’ve also got an army of content creators right here.
So I’m inviting you, asking you, to submit or create any videos that you think might fit the bill.
The magazine is ready to both publish and pay for the best.
And, if you’ll remember at Travel Channel, a few folks actually got full time jobs as VJs. We’re not there with NY Magazine yet, but one never knows where these things can lead.
So here’s a great opportunity.
Let’s keep them to 1-2 minutes.
Post them here and let’s see if we can get a few folks published and produced.

and, hey – we’re living proof that VJs rock! We’re actually entered in a video contest right now to guest host the International Reading Association’s annual conference in Orlando.
Check it out here – http://www.youtube.com/user/InternationalReading#p/a/u/1/FdJh26qRWYQ
We’re “Page Turner Adventures” on that site (the 2nd & 3rd videos). We’re NOT the 1st one.
Again, if you’re ever looking for KIDS travel stuff, that’s what we LOVE! We’re “Storyologists”. A Storyologist is someone that travels the world collecting, telling and writing stories. Wanna help us pitch it? We’ve got lots of studio pieces shot AND “Kid’s Club News” is what my wife did for 8 years on TV in south Florida. Which is EXACTLY like a VJ for kids.

awesome! good luck! we’re crazy doing production on another project right now, so we can’t create something for this quite yet, but….not sure if you’ve seen our stuff in general. Here’s a link to some vids we did for Travel Channel back in the day. http://www.travelchannel.com/Places_Trips/Destinations/Caribbean/Puerto_Rico/San_Juan
And I can send you other stuff we produced for them if you want to see what we can do.

haven’t produced for them in a while. as a matter of fact, neither has Ryan Van Duzer, Shane-O, Rachelle Lucas or anybody else. Looks like they’re not using the VJ model since they’ve been purchased by Scripps.

no
Scripps was totally uninterested
however, we are starting with USA Today Travel Section and they are very much interested.

Well, being one of those “few people” that was working solid for Travel Channel, I’ll see about submitting something for this. We’re VERY busy producing on an online craft “how to” video series for librarians right now, but when I’m done, I’ll whip something up for New York Magazine. And, heck, we’ll be in NY in June, so maybe we can go NY specific then. Any interest in a kid’s angle? That’s our specialty.

upload a minute and let’s see how it goes down. How are things at Travel Channel these days? Say hi to David Gerber.
