In 2002, I opened a video bar/cafe on the Lower East Side in NY, just across the street from CBGB.
It was a place anyone could come into, get cameras, access to editing, training and a cup of coffee or a beer.
Now, 10 years later, YouTube is doing the same thing – (except with a bit more money than I had to spend!)
It’s called Creator Space, and thanks to John Dumontelle in Miami for turning me on to this.
It marks another step in the ‘democratization of video’, (and is clearly the death knell for anyone who owns a conventional TV or video production facility).
Of course, access to gear is great, but unless you know what to do with it, it’s kind of a dead end.
And if you can’t make the trip to London, you can always learn here!
(Maybe YouTube will want to partner with NYVS? (hint hint).
