A few months ago we ran a training bootcamp for a handful of reporters from Sky News in Newcastle, England.
Newcastle has fond memories for me. It was where we ran the BBC Video Bootcamp for nearly four years, and where I met my wife Lisa.
But now we were going back to start working with Sky Sports as they set out to build their first entirely online local video news service:Â Sky: Tyne and Wear
I have to admit, I was  a bit nervous. Sky is a big broadcaster, and big broadcasters tend to be very conservative in their approach to video.
Not this time.
The VJs got state of the art gear.
They work from their homes (no offices, no newsroom).
They post online.
A few months in, and it seems to be working very very well.
It’s a great model for how video and broadcasting can and probably will be done in the future.
(Of course, we trained the VJs, so we are happy take some of the credit here).
Go check out their work.
And to give you a sense of what they can do, here’s a sample story.. or two
