or… a really bad music video…
Yesterday, Lisa and I ran a very successful live webinar on ‘How To Start Your Own Production Company’.
The core, beyond the legal stuff, is ‘where do you find the clients’.
Today, I am going to show you a great example of how you find a client and what you can offer to them.
Above is a video I saw on the Guardian website.
The article was pretty interesting (at least to me, being a total history geek).
“Would the battle of Agincourt have turned out differently if the French had worn lighter armour? Perhaps, say researchers who have discovered that the heavy steel-plate armour worn by the French would have exhausted them before the fight with the English had even started.
Despite having so clear and compelling (to a few) story, and total access to 100% of the content, The University of Leeds then proceeded to make an absolutely unwatchable music video.
Stupid?
That would be kind.
Idiotic?
Perhaps.
Tragic waste of potential?
For sure.
Someone in need of some good video making and producing capability?
I would think so.
The University of Leeds has a great story to tell here in video.
And they’ve got all the elements (and apparently) all of the equipment they need to do it.
And they have a ready audience – The Guardian (the most widely read online newspaper site in the UK – with even more viewers in the US), is ready to carry it.
So why do they take all this potential to make something really compelling and turn it into a crap music video?
Probably because they don’t know what they are doing when it comes to video.
But you do.
So tell them.
Get in touch with them and tell them that YOUÂ can solve their problem.
You can see that they have great potential that is being squandered (and their brand sullied by the way), but YOUÂ can fix it. YOUÂ can help them.
Clearly, they need it.
And indeed it is tragic.
My guess is that if they have this story they have messed up, they probably have 100 other equally interesting stories that, with a bit of skillful storytelling and writing and producing, could also be turned compelling content (as opposed to this annoying piece of drek).
What do they want? They want to tell their story to the world. They want to promote the University of Leeds and all the cool stuff it is doing.
YOU can help them to do that (for a fee, of course – but look how much money they must have wasted on this piece of crap).
Get to it!
