Cheddar bacon bagel? Oy!
As businesses move to the web, the they need websites to draw in the traffic.
And as the web is a screen first, whether it is on a computer, a tablet or a phone, that screen demands video.
The Detroit Institute of Bagels is running an online campaign to ‘save the bagel’, (not really a big issue here in Manhattan, but apparently a major problem in Detroit where there is not a single bagel store. IÂ knew there was a reason I didn’t live there).
In any event, The Detroit Institute of Bagels or DIB as it is known in Detroit, is running an online campaign to ‘save the bagel.
Or rather, return the bagel to Detroit – which admittedly is not only a noble cause, but might be seen as ‘God’s work’,… sort of.
In any event, like any good website, the DIB has posted a video to help drive home the point.
The editing and graphics and music are great.
So is the story arc.
What sucks is the shooting.
It is absolutely terrible.
Look at it.
Would you trust someone who put such a mess online to make a bagel for you? Something you are going to put in your mouth?
The shaky camera screams – shoddy workmanship. We don’t care about quality!
Now, this is obviously not true.
But a little instruction in how to make a better video (like making a better bagel) is going to pay off many times over in better video and happier customers.
As a result, IÂ have taken it upon myself to offer a free NYVS membership to Dan Newman at the Detroit Institute of Bagels.
Dan, we are looking forward to seeing some great videos of real bagle making (close up on the hands, close up on the face…)
Also Dan…. bacon cheddar bagels?
seriously…
