Gil Scott Heron, Godfather of rap and hip hop dead at 62.
Heron’s greatest hit, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised was a fascinating commentary on how conventional network TV ignored, and would ignore the struggle of black people in America.
At that time, in the 60s, the only black woman on TV was Julia, the receptionist in a doctors office.
Oprah and Obama were yet to come.
And of course, the power to create content in video is increasingly being taken from the hands of networks.
RIP Gil.

I am grateful to the universe to have had the spirit and soul of Gil Scott-Heron for as long as we did. As long as we speak his name he will never be forgotten. Whenever, I hear your voice, your music my heart smiles. I LOVE YOU and welcome your spirit as I meditate and pray. I will see you next lifetime.
