The group on the second day
We’ve just entered into a partnership with New York Magazine to create The New York Magazine Video Academy.
This is a video bootcamp, largely reflective of nyvs training but hands on, and with a magazine that is looking to get into the business of commissioning and purchasing video for their online site.
This is not unusual. In fact, this is what is going to happen everywhere.
Yesterday, the director of NYÂ Magazine’s online site came by and explained exactly what they are looking for.
(I hope to be able to put their sample video reel up here next week).
Regular readers will know that we have also just launched USA TODAYÂ Video Academy.
More are in the pipeline. It’s a win/win. Win for the publication – win for those who take the bootcamp.
Even if you don’t take the bootcamps, NYVS members will get access to what New York Magazine (and others) are looking for and how to pitch videos.
However.. if you wish to attend a bootcamp (next weekend, in NY, we’re doing the advanced bootcamp – 2 days, Saturday and Sunday at NY Magazine’s offices), we are offering NYVS members a 10% tuition disount.
Whether you take the face to face bootcamp or not (and of course we think you should if you can), it’s the start of a great realationship for us and for you.

Saw Robert Reid in your picture. He has been making really fun travel videos on the web. But everytime I saw one, I would wonder what he could have done with your “5-shot” training…. Now we’ll know.
