And now, it’s the Director’s turn…
The march of technology is relentless.
CollabraCam has just released a new iPhone app that allows you to wifi link up to four cameras, switch them and then edit the final product (including graphics and music) then upload the final product.
For anyone who has worked in the conventional production business this is pretty mind-blowing.
Effectively, this simple app replaces million dollar control rooms.
Where can you use this?
Well, sporting events, for one.
I don’t think it’s for the Superbowl.. yet, but it sure would be interesting for, say, high school football games. Four people with linked HD iPhones covering the game and a producer/director (editor, graphics person, conform, music director and let’s thow in EP for good measure) sitting in the stands with a CollabraCam app switching between the various cameras and creating the final piece.
(Can this thing live feed? I dunno.. yet).
In any event, this is for sure a game changer.
This, by the way, is what the CollabraCam replaces.
So it’s no wonder that Video Production Houses were recently listed at the number one declining business in the US last year.
And here, as an added bonus, is their (remarkably non-video) demo on how to use this.
