Tune in Mondays at 10!
A few years ago we had a student in our of our New York bootcamps.
He was from South Carolina – a former State Trooper who ran drug dogs.
He had set up his own business to rent drug dogs (those are the dogs that are trained to sniff for drugs) out to local law enforcement agencies that couldn’t afford them.
His name was Jay Russell.
He had a shaved head, wore a DEA shirt and had that southern State Trooper talk that makes you mess in your pants when he stops you car.
I though there might be something there, so I told him to go back to South Carolina with his new found video skills and make me a 2-minute pilot of what a show with him might be like.
He did it, with the help of his nephew.
We went back and forth through a few edits and in the end produced a pretty good reel.
Then I called my friends in LA at Zoo. They produce Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, among other things.
They also thought there was something there.
We cut a deal with TruTV and got a pilot.
It rated high.
So high that they commissioned a whole season.
That also rated high.
Now we’re launching the second season. A third should be in the works.
Jay Russell.
NYVS success story.
Tune in!
Who doesn’t want their own reality show, after all?
