I think we’re getting close to something interesting here…
Chad Sylvester, TCA Alum sent me the above. He made it along with Colby Michaud.
Chad is not a filmmaker – or at least he wasnt’ when he took the TCA course.
Now, he is.
He was, (and still appears to be) in the real estate business – at least based on his Facebook page.
But just look at what he has been able to do on his own in the realm of fiction.
It’s not perfect
But man, it’s not bad either.
OK. It needs some serious re-cutting. It drags in a lot of places. But that is all correctable.
What I find most interesting here are:
1. He’s used the skills he’s picked up (the same ones we’re offering at NYVS), to make a feature film. Very impressive.
2. He’s married the notion of a feature to a commercial venture.
I’m not sure it’s all here yet, but it sure is the seeds of something interesting.
And why not?
Why not marry the style and pacing of fiction to selling a house…. or anything else?
It’s a different approach to exposition.
It used to be that making a feature was so complex and so expensive that no one would ever go near it except for crazy people who wanted to go broke or people with the backing of a studio.
This is no longer the case.
So why not marry the dramatic narrative to selling a house.
I wrote to Chad after I looked at this and I told him that I thought there was something there.
I think that, further developed, it might find a home on HGTV, or example.
Or even a series of webisodes married to a major real estate site online.
Who knows.
But it’s a great great first shot.
