There’s a Great White around here somewhere…
I am filing this from the Crystal Serenity, a top of the line luxury cruise ship, and we’re now just rounding the Cape of Good Hope off South Africa on our way to Port Elizabeth.
We’re running the first, experimental, Travel Channel Academy @ Sea in partnership with The Travel Channel and Crystal Cruises.
We’ll be on board for the next three weeks, making our way to Mumbai, India, by way of Mombassa, Zanzibar and lots of other interesting stops.
We’ll be joined in Durban, South Africa by 5 of our regular trainers.
Then, we’ll be running classes and seminars for the passengers – helping them make really great videos of their trip around the world.
Will it work?
Should… I hope.
In the meantime, we ran our first explanatory lecture in the main auditorium on board and we got a very positive response.
We’ve taken over one of the big lecture rooms here and we brought 25 cameras and 25 laptops with Final Cut Pro so we’re all set.
After the lecture this morining, a number of people dropped by to show us video they had already shot.
Lucky we got here when we did!
We think the potential for this kind of thing is enormous.
In the meatime, we’re on board for the next 21 days, along with Sen. Phil Gramm, the ‘celebrity lecturer’, and a bunch of other folks.
There certainly is no shortage of stuff to do.
Oh yeah – and they have a Nobu.
