PF Bentley was in our very first VNI VJ Bootcamp in Philadelphia in 1993.
That was a long time ago!
PF was then a photographer at Time Magazine. One of the best.
He was the White House photographer and spent 8 years following Bill Clinton all over the world. I have his b&w photo of Clinton’s last moments in the Oval Office hanging on my wall. Signed, no less!
We took him into video.
The very first piece he did for us we sold to Nightline.
PF took his Hi8 camera (that was what we used then) to Cuba and did 2 reports for Nightline.
Ted Kopple was a big fan of ours.
Always a journalist at heart, PF continued to produce video around news events and people. He joined up with Dirck Halstead at The Digital Journalist.
He shot our series for Discovery, Drew Carey’s Sporting World. 4 hours he pretty much did on his own.
But Time fired all their contract photogs and the video/news business is not what it once was.
So PF has taken his skills to far more lucrative places.
Like Hilton Hotels.
He just got a commission from Hilton to create videos for their hotel chain. The first one is above for you perusal. He shot this with a Canon 7D, a DSLR.
There will be many more videos to come. And many more hotel chains lining up for his work.
Running off to Havana was probably more fun, but then again, spending a few days at a Hawaiian Hilton is not so bad either. And it pays a whole lot better.
