Anchors aweigh (away?)
Yesterday we signed a deal with Crystal Cruises to run Travel Channel Academy courses at sea!
Of course, Cruise Ships seem a pretty logical place to run a Travel Channel Academy. You are, after all, on the cruise experience of a lifetime, and it would be great to be able to make a high-quality “film” or video of your trip. Â And what better place to learn than on board, while you are making the trip.
We supply the equipment and the trainers, Crystal Cruises supplies the most luxurious cruise ships in the world and the most spectacular locations.
We’re running our first one on the Capetown, South Africa to Mumbai, India leg: Â 3 weeks, with stops in Kenya, the Seychelles, Zanzibar, the Maldives…. sounds tough. So tough that Lisa and I are going to make sure it all goes great. Â Yeah, I know.. work, work, work.
We’ll be joined by several of our best trainers and an executive or two from The Travel Channel.
Participants will not only make short videos, but everyone will join in to create a documentary film about the whole trip. Â Crystal Cruises has graciously given our student film maker teams access to the full run of the ship. I think we’re looking at a great movie when we’re all done. Â Students will rotate all jobs on the film, and will be guided by professional producers and editors as well. Â
Here are the details.
If you’ve got a few weeks come along. Should be great.

might as well keep with the off topic theme here…
michael, i know how you enjoy citing youtube’s video daily upload figures vs. those of traditional media, so when i saw steviesaf link to an economist video entitled “did you know?”, i immediately thought you might enjoy seeing it (if you haven’t already). i’ve not had much luck linking under my id using woordpress lately so you’ll have to search youtube or steviesaf’s twitter.

ok, this one’s way off topic but since we’re talking about “the sea”, can i update a story i linked rosenblumtv readers to back when michael wrote about working with NOAA?
i mentioned a wayward monk seal that had taken to the keiki (children) of kaunakakai rather than his/her own kind. well, he’s made it big! you can visit themolokaidispatchdotcom and see what the wall street journal said about him last week… not to mention see a picture of him that’ll make you chuckle.
bon voyage!
