Hat trick at the Emmys last night
Susan Norton will be familiar to anyone who has taken the Travel Channel Academy. Â
She’s the Executive Producer in charge of the Academy for the Travel Channel and who also runs the short form content side of the business. Â She generally gives the talk about what the channel is looking for, and she’s the person who buys your stuff when you graduate. Â She’s Arthur’s boss.
Last night was the News and Documentary Emmys in New York.Â
She was nominated for three categories, which in itself is rare enough for the Travel Channel. Â This is a part of television that is normally dominated by the networks and PBS. Â Places like ABC or CNN take whole tables at the awards ceremonies. Â Sue was there on her own.
To win one national emmy is an achievement. To win 3 in one night is just pretty unbelievable.
Mazel tov, Sue Norton!

Hey Great … an EMMY well done team. Barnaby certainly deserves it for his MUSIC, but actually Kate Hopkins and myself are responsible for the SOUND tracklay and mix, would have been nice to get a mention!

Darned right Martyn….mind you, some of us have been unrecognised for years. Not surprising when one’s work is to make sure that the viewer cannot see one’s work!

Does this mean I have to start dusting the mantelpiece?

Yes, Barnaby Taylor is correct, he is the winner of the craft award for Music and Sound for Wild China, I was one of the exec producers so proudly accepted the awards on behalf of the entire team.
Congrats to Barnaby, Phil Chapman, Brian Leith and the entire Wild China team for a tremendous program.

Any one who knows Sue, knows she deserves them. The question is why is she at Kinkos afterwards. “Hey! Sue Norton, you just won three Emmys. Where are you going?”
“Kinkos”.
Where is she sending them? Is she sending them back to her office? How much do you insure them for? How much does one weigh? They look heavey.

LOL
Jealous?
No, and I am happy she won the awards.
Just pointing out the focus of this site is to promote VJ work and this doesn’t fit the bill.
She’s a talented person who knows how to produce the best product possible.
Especially if it’s to win awards of this stature.

I think $ is very jealous and needs to shut up.

Didn’t think so.
Bob September 22, 2009
