Amy Foster 13 years old takes 1st Place in the British Nationals.
I grew up in New York.
I don’t know a thing about horses, except that they are big and somewhat intimidating.
However, my 13-year old niece Amy rides them all the time, as I suppose most girls do.
Yesterday however, she transcended from hobbyist to champion as she took an astonishing first place in the BHS (British Horse Society) national championship for cross country.
Now, I have seen this cross country thing, and it is really impressive. The contenders go thundering across the country side full bore and jump over hedges and stone fences and all kinds of stuff, all against the clock.
Very impressive and very British.
I went once to the Hamptons Classic  which seemed to be more about champagne and tents than horses. This is the real thing.
So as we say in New York, Mazel Tov Amy!
