A few days ago I got an email from Channel 1 VJ Marcel Theroux, who was shooting video for The Guardian.
Now, a posting from another Channel 1 VJ, David Dunkley Gyimah who has been in Beirut teaching print journalists from the Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar to work as VJs.
In the decade since the attended the training bootcamp in London, David has become the UK’s leading proponent of videojournalism. Check out his website here.

Afternoon all from the sunny Loire Valley. Just got back from a few days in Marseille shooting abstract landscape photos and checking out the amazing Picasso/Cezanne expo in Aix-en-Provence. Damn fine inspiration.
Returning to London next week and would love to meet up. Is it really 15 years since we boot-camped in Charlotte Street?? How the time flies when you’re busy making stuff.
All the best,
Sacha

So we appear to have got a quorum together.
I’m very easy to find on line. But not in London Tuesday-Thursdays inclusive when I’m in Dublin.
I bumped into Seltzer a few years ago in the base of the BT Tower. Both of us looking very corporate. He’s very easy to find what with his own name .com web site and all.
Who do we think would be the most difficult to find? How extensive is the network still? Is anyone dead?
We should link up and find out.

Guys!
This is like an online Channel One reunion!
But it’s been a lot more than a decade since our guru Michael took us through our VJ bootcamp in that dusty old office in Charlotte Street. It was 1994. We’re all 15 years older now. It’s surely appropriate timing for a Channel One reunion.

based upon past experience and current comments – the choice as to who has skills in being multifaceted as compared to mouthy detractors is apparent.
Doesn’t surprise me to see $ hasn’t changed one bit 😉
My deepest gratitude to both Michael and David – you both are the best 🙂

I have to say that the idea of teaching legions of people to do video in this new world is not such a bad way to make a living – based on my experience so far. I don’t mind.

Yet another VJ grad that finds the only way he can make a living, if that, is by opening up his own school.
Not a surprise.
