This is for real
A lot of people who work for us dream of being documentary filmmakers.
It is not easy path to follow.
But for those who wish to do so, there is no better role model than my old friends Pam Yates and Paco De Onis.
For the past three years they have devoted their lives to making a single documentary film, The Reckoning.
It’s the story of the Battle for the International Criminal Court, and it took them to some of the most terrible war zones in the world, from Uganda to the Congo as well as to The Hague, where the Court is housed.
It’s a fascinating and gripping film.
We were fortunate enough to see it a few months ago when it led off the Human Rights Film Festival at Lincoln Center.
Afterwards, we were only sorry that more people could not see it, despite playing to a full house.
Now they can. And so can you.
PBS Broadcast premier, July 14th, 10 PM on PBS series POV.
