Come on by!
Blogging and communicating on the web creates a new kind of relationship.
You can get to know someone fairly well and yet never meet them.
Sometimes, these relationships can go on for years.
Announcing that we were going to be in Colorado to run a bootcamp at Keystone Resorts, I was contacted by Eric Blumer (eb), a longtime reader of and contributor to this blog, (as well as someone I knew from postings at b-roll.net).
Well, come on by!
And he did.
Eric is a consumate professional, both conventional cameraman (NPPA National Award winner, among others), journalist (Murrow Award, 21 Emmys, and lots more), and VJ.
We had a long and very involved conversation about the industry and where it is going.
(I invited Chicago Dog to come and see me when we ran a session in Chicago, but he mercifully declined. I am not planning any sessions in Tampa in the near future, at least).
It was a real pleasure to meet Eric in person, and I hope that both the dialogue and the friendship will continue.
We are off to DC tomorrow to start another Travel Channel Academy at Travel Channel HQ, but for today there are 10 inches of newly fallen snow and all of Colorado is white and beckoning.

I hope you enjoyed the high country. I sure do.
It was good to meet and talk. The world of video media and journalism is definitely changing. And I’m always interested in what’s “new” in the news biz. That’s why I read this blog, and B-Roll too. Plus I ran into a few other people I knew.
(Fact check: That would be 21 not 11.)
