And that’s the way it is…
LONDON: Spent two days sequestered with The Guardian, imho the best newspaper in the world. They are making a major commitment to video; their spiffy new offices have full blown video and audio production studios. They do the world’s best journalism – now can they produce video content that is of the same quality and cailbre? I think they can. In fact, I think they will become the Gold Standard for online video journalism. Give them a year or two, then I think they will be to online videojournalism what the BBC has for years been to broadcast journalism – the model that the rest of the world aspires toward. What is it about the UK and journalism in general that makes them so damned good?
NEW YORK: After two test years in DC, Verizon (and we) are opening a second market in NY. The full-bore VJ model has proven so successful that we’re doing it again. The Wall Street Journal has the full story here.

The paper has a video division, but they’re also training reporters to shoot video. They’re just at the beginning of this, and they’re trying to figure out the best way to do this.

Interesting stuff…Does the Guardian have its own video department and do they hire VJs perse or are they retraining their paper journos? Who’s running it all?

Michael, the link to the WSJ article doesn’t open natively. The “TP://” at the start of the link kills it for my browser. I did cut-and-paste the remainder of the URL to read the story. – Chris
